Ideal applicants for Assistant positions are tech-savvy high school or college students who love working with kids.
We teach summer camps to grades K-8th in the Greater Mpls area: Plymouth, Wayzata, Osseo, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Edina, Bloomington, Orono, Eastern Carver, Centennial, Shakopee, STMA, Elk River, Mounds View and St. Paul.
Our office is located in New Hope, but our teachers are portable and travel throughout the metro area to conduct classes and camps. A flexible schedule and reliable transportation is required with availability for half or full days, Mon-Thurs plus meetings on Fridays from June 12 - Aug 11, 2023. Schedules are finalized closer to the camp start as it depends on registration numbers. We are looking to hire a mix of full-time (all day, all weeks) and part-time/on-call (half days, some weeks) teachers.
As a Teacher, you will be driving to your site, typically a school or community education building. You will be responsible for bringing 3-4 plastic bins of materials/equipment, which you will then be setting up in a classroom before students arrive.
You will be delivering our curriculum to classes of up to 16 students. Grade level will vary between K-8th grades depending on the class.
Before teaching or assisting, teachers must complete 2 hours of training on basic camp management and leadership skills. You must also complete a 1-hour employee orientation in our New Hope office.
The curriculum will be provided to each teacher for each class. You will be provided all of the equipment needed to teach a class each week. Teachers will go through our curriculum independently. Preparation is done in our New Hope office so we can help as needed and scheduled by the teacher prior to teaching.
Equipment pick-up and meetings are done in our New Hope office. The exchange (pickup and return) of equipment is done every Friday morning in the summer.
Class size will vary from 6-16 students.
Teachers: $20-$27 an hour based on experience/license
Assistants $16-$19 an hour
Most teachers will work 6 weeks for 30 hours a week, depending on location and availability.
