Improv Stars Ages 9-11

Students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation such as developing skills in spontaneity, storytelling, listening, character creation, agreeing with all choices made by fellow players, and building onto new ideas through a variety of different improv games and exercises each week. Our students will be encouraged to “make mistakes” in order to build confidence and other helpful life skills that will transcend the classroom! This class is designed to be repeated.

Improv Encore Ages 15-18

High School improvisers of all experience levels are invited to put their wits to the test, all while honing their skills in comedic form, teamwork, storytelling, and acting. Improv Encore provides a unique environment where students are simultaneously met at their own comfort level, and encouraged to push boundaries. This class is designed to be repeated.

Improv, Movement, and Beyond Ages 12-14

In this program, students will learn different techniques involved in character development and acting with a partner. With a foundation in improvisation, voice, movement, and meditation, students will dive into the "give and take" of scenework.

Acting Ensemble Ages 10-14 *Invitation Only

Acting Ensemble is designed for dedicated theater students ages 10-14 who demonstrate a desire and enthusiasm for refining and developing acting technique. Admission is based on instructor approval to ensure participants have the foundational skills and experiences necessary for advanced work. Through scene study, character development and performance-based exercises, students will deepen their emotional range, stage presence, and collaborative techniques. This class emphasizes individual growth, ensemble work, and preparation.

Acting Encore - Session A Ages 10-13

In this class, students develop their acting skills through exercises in storytelling and movement. Students will be encouraged to use their creativity to develop characters in scenes and monologues, culminating in a final in-class performance. This class is designed to be repeated.

Acting Encore - Session B Ages 10-13

In this class, students develop their acting skills through exercises in storytelling and movement. Students will be encouraged to use their creativity to develop characters in scenes and monologues, culminating in a final in-class performance. This class is designed to be repeated.

Celebration Singers Ages 18+

Create music and build friendships in Celebration Singers! This ensemble sings a variety of musical generes - including pop, jazz, oldies, musical theatre, and more. During weekly rehearsals, singers will develop musical skills while connecting with fellow music lovers in preparation for a live performance. A great way to refresh and recharge at the end of the week! Singers of all experience levels welcome!

Advanced Improvisation Ages 18+

Join fellow improv enthusiasts through a series of games, exercises, and improvisational forms intended to expand on previous experience. Students will apply tools and techniques to new heights with our Advanced Improv ensemble.

Second Act Players Ages 18-59

Shine on the Metropolis stage in this exciting opportunity to rehearse and perform scenes and songs from popular Broadways musicals! Learn the basics and beyond as we sing, dance, and act each week, working towards a performance for your family and friends to enjoy!

** Cost at time of registration is $150 as a commitment to attend at least half of the scheduled classes/rehearsals. Students attending more than half will be billed according to attendance.

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 6pm-8pm

*No Rehearsal Nov. 27th, Dec. 25th, and Jan. 1st

Technical Rehearsals: Saturday, January 24th, 9am-12pm, & Sunday, January 25th, 9am-12pm

Through a wide array of musical theater genres, explore different styles of choreography and song! Students are encouraged to share songs and musicals that excite them to be included in the final in-class showcase!

Imagination Exploration - Session A: Fun with Feelings Ages 4-6 

What does it look like if you're happy as a clam, as angry as a hornet, down in the dumps, or hopping mad? Feelings are not only a part of our everday lives, they are one of an actors' most useful tools. Join Ms. Megan for some Emotion Exploration through storybooks and games as we learn how to identify, portray, and even manage our feelings like real performers. Students will have a chance to show off all their new skills with a Feelings Fashion Show at the end of the session!

Wiggle, Giggle, and Grow - Session B Ages 18m-3y

In this creative drama class, little ones will learn to express themselves both verbally and physically through the use of action songs, fingerplays, and storybooks.  They will also work on fine and gross motor skills while engaging with props such as scarves, rhythm instruments, puppets, and bubbles. Wiggle, Giggle and Grow is a parent and child class, so what better way to bond with your child than spending an hour roaring like a wild thing, swimming like a fish, or waddling around the farm like a duck together? (Adult participation is required, so be ready to get silly!  Your toddler will love it!

Oliver! Audition Workshop

Interested in auditioning for Oliver! in concert, but unsure where to start? Consider yourself at home! Bring your questions and ideas, choose an audition song, and receive feedback to boost your confidence! Participants should come prepared with questions and/or their chosen audition pieces. 

Guardians are welcome to attend and learn about the auditioning process!

Beetlejuice Jr Ages 8-16

The iconic and scarily funny film takes to the Metropolis stage! Lydia Deetz is a quirky, off-kilter teen, grieving the loss of her mother. When she and her father move into a new house, Lydia joins forces with two ghosts to scare her father into noticing her. Everything takes a turn when the impulsive, double-crossing ghoul Beetljuice appears on the scene. 

Auditions: Friday 9/12 from 5-8pm, Saturday 9/13 from 1-4pm

Callbacks: Sunday 9/14 from 1-4pm *By invitation only

Holiday Cabaret 2025 Grades 4-12

Celebrate the holidays with Metropolis School of the Performing Arts!! Students will perform a variety of holiday music, including “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Happy Holiday”, “Let it Snow”, “White Christmas”, and more! Don’t miss this SOPA holiday tradition!
