Metropolis School's Devised SHAKESPEARE Project Ages 12-19

Do you love Shakespeare? Do you hate Shakespeare? Do you not care about Shakespeare at all? Is this the first time you're hearing the name "Shakespeare"? Great! Then this is the project for you! Throughout our time together we will use Shakespeare's many works as a guide to explore storytelling themes, human behavior and psychology, and what makes his plays maintain their relevance to this day. Then, using music, costumes, props, set pieces, Shakespeare's words, and each inividual's passion and direction, every participant will craft their own Solo Shows, where they will be both playwright and actor. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone interested in Shakespeare, playwrighting, devised work, acting, music, dramaturgy, and that's just the tip of the quill!
All participants will have the opportunity for additonal assignments outside of the class.
The class will end in an invited performance on the Metropolis Stage where everyone will have the chance to present their own devised show.
SCHEDULING NOTE:
Tech Week Rehearsals (where we work the technical elements of the show to get ready for the performance)
Tuesday, January 12th - Thursday, January 14th 10:00am-1:00pm
Friday, January 15th 10:00am-1:00pm (Extra rehearsal IF NEEDED)
INVITED PERFORMANCE - Friday, January 15th at 2:00pm
