This introductory course offers students a comprehensive overview of Technical Theatre Design. Through a holistic approach to the designer’s process, students will explore the essential roles and processes of scenic, lighting, sound, prop, and costume designers through hands-on activities. Students will also analyze the play “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl and take on the responsibilities of each designer by creating sketches, models, sound files, and lighting concepts for the play. The course culminates in the development of a complete production portfolio, concluding with a final "pitch" of a hypothetical production to a panel of "producers."
