Let's get creative and have some Songwriting fun!  We write a group song (usually a little hilarious and definitely delightful, for creatives and listeners!), and sometimes two in a single day.  We focus on two different songwriting approaches throughout the day, incorporating valuable literacy tools along the way, like alliteration, rhyme, imagery and figurative language! Campers always leave with a lot of pride in their creations and can't wait to share it with their grown-ups.  And this camp is NEVER the same twice, so you can come every single time and STILL find we create something new.  It's pretty magical!

We also have plenty of 'down-time' for campers to build with legos, read in our book nook, and enjoy each other's company.  A necessary part of a joyful camp day!

For our parent minds, this camp offers a unique opportunity to combine music and literacy into a personal work of musical art.  Songwriting offers us an oportunity to enjoy stories, words, sounds (phonemes) in a new and creative way.  It often sparks a greater interest in storytelling and reading, as well as a love of language and music, separately and in combination.  It always has for me. :)  All levels of reading, writing, and musical knowledge are welcome.

*We have personal recorders to use at camp for anyone that doesn't write confidently yet, or doesn't write fast enough to get their ideas down... which is most of us!*

We take breaks and have 'free sculpture time" if our day permits. Usually it does.  It's fun to get our hands dirty and make things!
