“Increased Independence” Stage: During this stage, children take more ownership in activities, as they start to recognize favorite songs and actively participate in musical activities. As they become more familiar with class routines and develop greater control over their voices, bodies, and musical instruments, they start to interact more with others. The class transitions into a shared parent/child experience rather than being solely parent-led.
What to Expect:
• Adult and Child Participation: Adults and children enjoy music together, with increased emphasis in letting children become the leaders.
• Singing and Solfege: Continuation of Solfege (e.g., “Do-Re-Mi…”), singing and with xylophones, to support listening and language development.
• Harmony and Tonal Fundamentals: Harmony and tonal pattern activities are included to increase vocal abiltities.
• Dancing and Large Movements: Improvisation and free dance to foster creativity and self-expression.
• Rhythm Patterns and Activities: Guided by a songbook curriculum, playing with rhythm patterns to support foundational music goals.
• Guest Musicians and Instrument Show-and-Tell: Visits from guest musicians to experience orchestra instruments up-close.
• Instrument Play: Hands-on experience with rhythm sticks, shakers, bells, drums, and scarves.
This class is designed to seamlessly integrate music into everyday life, fostering an immersive environment where children and their caregivers can explore, discover, and share musical experiences together.
