This program will engage young people in both functional and sculptural ceramics. Students will be run through a comprehensive introduction to several foundational hand-building techniques including pinch method, coiling, hand-modelling, slab construction and throwing on the wheel.

Due to the time our teachers spend planning, researching and designing the term curriculum, our fee is set for the term and does not depend on the number of weeks in a term.

Once students have built their beautiful forms, our skilled ceramicists will teach a variety of aesthetic, decoration, and glazing techniques such as carving, printing, stamping, sgraffito, underglaze washes, painting with glaze, bubble glaze, marbling, and oxides.

Drawing on art history, contemporary and local artists and current trends within the artworld, our teachers provide a valuable and engaging experience whilst encouraging self-expression, communication and social interaction.

All skills that we teach in our classes are highly transferrable, so if students have worked with clay before and are looking to expand their knowledge, our qualified ceramicists can progress students to more complex methods of making.

Each class is run for 90mins in a friendly, creative, and inclusive space.

What’s included:

Our youth ceramic classes only require your hands and fingers, we will provide the rest: all clay, tools, equipment, firing and glazes (including an extensive range of underglazes, oxides, and certain specialty glazes) are included in the class fees! So, there is no hidden cost!  oh, and did we mention that we have a studio cat! That’s right, cute cat cuddles are also included! 

All our teachers are highly trained within ceramics and have a current Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) and we always have a First Aid officer on site.

Note: We do not accept students before 4pm, as they cannot be safely supervised before this time. Due to the popularity of our classes, please book ahead to ensure a place as spots fill up quickly and often before term starts! Students must book before attending class. When booking, please let us know of any allergies or special concerns.
