THURSDAYS / 4PM - 5:30PM / CERAMICS
15 OCT- 17 DEC
Cost: $460
Age: 9-16 years
Max no of students: 12
This program introduces young people to both functional and sculptural ceramics, building a strong foundation in a wide range of hand-building techniques including pinch pots, coiling, hand-modelling and slab construction, as well as throwing on the wheel.
Once students have created their forms, they’ll explore a variety of decorative and glazing techniques, including carving, printing, stamping, sgraffito, underglaze washes, glaze painting, bubble glazing, marbling and oxides. Students with previous clay experience can build on their existing skills and progress to more advanced techniques with guidance from our qualified ceramicists.
Drawing on art history, contemporary and local artists, and current trends in the art world, our teachers create an engaging environment that encourages self-expression, communication and social interaction. Each 90-minute class takes place in a friendly, creative and inclusive studio environment.
What’s included:
Everything is provided, including clay, tools, equipment, firing and glazes, with an extensive selection of underglazes, oxides and specialty glazes available. There are no additional material costs.
Important Information:
Students cannot be accepted before 4pm, as we are unable to safely supervise them before this time. Due to the popularity of our classes, places can fill quickly, often before the term begins, so please book ahead. Students must be booked in before attending class. When booking, please let us know about any allergies or special considerations. Due to the time our teachers spend planning, researching and designing the term curriculum, our fee is set for the term and does not depend on the number of weeks in a term.
