Acting for the Camera: TV, Film & Commercials
Transition from the stage to the screen in this comprehensive exploration of on-camera performance. This course is designed to help actors adapt their craft for the lens by mastering the nuances of choice, size, and physicality.
Throughout the term, students will analyze the fundamental differences between stage and screen, including:
• Script Analysis: Moving from theatrical, to film, television, and commercial scripts.
• Character Development: Adjusting preparation techniques for the intimate demands of the camera versus the broad reach of the stage.
• Commercial Technique: Mastering the specific pacing and personality required for TV commercials.
• Auditioning: Practical training for the "self-tape" and in-person screen tests.
Whether you are a theater actor looking to bridge the gap or a seasoned professional seeking to sharpen your on-camera presence, this course provides the technical tools necessary to succeed in the industry.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Acting Level 2—Actor Prepares or by permission of a director.
