LEGO Early Engineering
This hands-on LEGO STEM class uses specialized Duplo materials from LEGO Education to introduce basic science and engineering concepts. Students will build, test and record results creating fun simple machines that really work! Projects include; Spinning Top, Car Launcher, Measuring Car, Hockey Player, Sam's New Dog and more! Students will learn how pulleys, levers, gears, wheels and axles work as they explore energy, force, buoyancy and balance.
LEGO Gizmos Gears and Gadgets
Learn about simple machines including gears, gear ratios, levers, wheel & axle, potential and kinetic energy and force with projects such as the Fly Wheel Cruiser, Rollin' Rex Boxer and the Classic Catapult. Experiment with your contraptions then innovate and improve them! Each student will get their own Lego kit to use during class and then take home after the class finishes!
Holiday Maker Classes
This season, use science to create unique holiday gifts! While applying STEAM concepts, students will learn about chemistry and make gifts they can give to parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles this season. Students will come home with 3 or more unique gifts at the last class. Shhh... we don't want to share what they are!
KIDS CODE: Amazing Apps
Join anytime! Students work at their own pace learning how to create apps that they can download and play on their own devices!
Unit 1: Coordinates & Basic Commands is where all students should begin their journey into typing app coding. The apps in Unit 1 illustrate the use of 2D coordinates in graphics programming, as well as Bitsbox's fill, stamp, and text commands.
Unit 2: Variables & Simple Methods introduces the use of placeholders for values and making code easier to change.
Unit 3: Conditionals & Screen Interactions introduces how to run code if only certain conditions are met and shows how to use the tap and grab functions to create interactive apps.
Once students have mastered their current learning goal, they will learn to code with fun themed coding adventures such as Apposaurus Rex, Monkey Business, Top Secret or Super Powers! Students get to choose a theme and then work through a series of apps offered at a range of difficulties - perfect for programmers of all ages!
CLASS IS LIMITED TO 8 STUDENTS.
NOTE: B3 will provide the computers for programming. Students can then access the programs they create using QR Codes.
NOTE: Students must be able to read independently.
Jr Robotics
Junior Robotics
Join us as we explore the world of coding & robotics! This class will expose our junior learners to all things Robotic! Students will rotate through learning with different types of robots and kits.
Robots include:
- Lego WeDo & Lego Essentials: where students use Scratch coding to create programs for robots built from Legos
- Ozobots: bots that are programmed through color coding
- MouseBots: use problem solving and sequencing to solve puzzles with a robot mouse
- Edison: Design a Bot for Sumo Wrestling, create a maze for your bot to follow and more
- Snap Circuits: discover the world of circuitry
Junior Robotics is designed for students aged 5 to 8 who may or may not have experience building with LEGOS and Robotics. In addition to learning coding and engineering concepts, students will also develop their literacy, math and social-emotional skills as they turn concepts into reality. Students learn to follow-instructions when building and programming their autonomous robots. They then get to explore and problem-solve while customizing their robotic designs. This class is designed for emergent readers (children still learning how to read).
Class size in limited to 8 children.
STEAM Creators
STEAM Creators: Coding & Robotics
Starting with Block Coding, our STEAM Creators will be introduced to Scratch, Edison Robots, Snap Circuits, Spike Essentials and more. Block Coding teaches the basics of working with code, variables & commands in a non-texted based environment. Students who are ready to move beyond Block Coding can progress into Scratch and Java Script.
This exciting hands-on class will introduce children to different elements of STEAM, while supporting them in nurturing and developing their primary interests. Whether your child would like to delve deeper into coding, explore the world of circuitry or build and code robots, this child-centered course will support your child's interests while exposing them to new skills.
STEAM Inventors
STEAM Inventors Ages 10+
Using text-based codes Java Script and Python, students will have the opportunity to create apps, build and program robots (Edison Bots & Spike), learn about circuitry through solving Spintronics puzzles, Minecraft coding, problem solving and more! This class is 1.5 hours to allow introduction of new skills AND time to grow individual interests.

Combat Robots
New This Year: Build Your Own BatttleBot Ages 9+ (teens and adults can join as well!)
We've gone from amazing to amazingly awesome - B3 is teaming up with Team Witch Doctor from Battlebots!
Starting this fall, our curriculum will include hands-on Battle Bot building and design. Dive into the world of mechanical engineering as you learn how to build, battle and repair your first Combat Robot! The goal of this class is to prepare you to compete at local tournaments on your own!

We will be building PLANT Class robots: Plastic Ant Class (no medal weapons or defense mechanism).
Optional: Purchase your very OWN robot to keep! You will build that robot and learn how to operate it and then get to keep your robot, which you can then use in local tournaments.
Jr STEAM Creators
Junior STEAM Creators
A stepping stone from our STEAM Explorers class to our STEAM Creators - Junior STEAM Creators is designed for emergent readers to explore the world of Bricks Bots & Beakers.
BRICKS classes brainstorm, create, test, and redesign age appropriate projects exploring early engineering concepts. BOTS classes incorporate age appropriate coding and robotics using block coding while developing critical thinking skills. BEAKERS classes take natural scientists and introduces them to: science vocabulary, developing a hypotheses, making predictions, recording results and drawing conclusions. All of this happens in a curiosity driven, collaborative, small group class setting with experienced teachers who scaffold rich learning experiences.
Class is limited to 8 children.
