B3 Preschool Program
Our background in education and a curriculum grounded in early childhood education theory means Bricks Bots Beakers classes for preschoolers get kids truly thinking and problem solving. BRICKS classes are more than just copying a picture of a simple build. Preschoolers brainstorm, create, test, and redesign age appropriate projects. BOTS classes incorporate age appropriate coding. BEAKERS classes take natural scientists (aka preschool children) and introduces them to: science vocabulary, developing a hypotheses, making predictions, recording results and drawing conclusions. All of this happens in a curiosity driven, collaborative, small group class setting with experienced teachers who scaffold rich learning experiences.
LEGO Gizmos Gears and Gadgets
Learn about simple machines including gears, gear ratios, levers, wheel & axle, potential and kinetic energy and force with projects such as the Fly Wheel Cruiser, Rollin' Rex Boxer and the Classic Catapult. Experiment with your contraptions then innovate and improve them! Each student will get their own Lego kit to use during class and then take home after the class finishes!
Early Dismissal STEAM Labs
Early Dismissal STEAM Labs run from 12:15 - 3:30. You may choose which days you would like to attend.
SUPER SLIME LAB (11/9)
All slime. All the time! Become an expert slime-ologist and learn about the science of polymers. Experiment with different reactants and formulas to create perfect slime, puffy slime & magnetic slime! Experiment with slime. Play with slime. Be one with slime…
Includes 2 slices of plain pizza, a Welch’s fruit snack and bottled water. Minimum of 8 students required.
Holiday Maker Classes
This season, use science to create unique holiday gifts! While applying STEAM concepts, students will learn about chemistry and make gifts they can give to parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles this season. Students will come home with 3 or more unique gifts at the last class. Shhh... we don't want to share what they are!
LEGO Chain Reactions
Have fun building and exploring physics and engineering. Students will create 10 kinetic machines that spin, swing, pivot, roll, lift and drop. Each machine alone is awesome, but put them together and you get incredible chain reactions. Then, combine the machines in any order you like to create your own chain reactions.
LEGO Gizmos Gears and Gadgets Part II
Join us for the second half of Gizmos, Gears & Gadgets. No need to have participated in the first half - we have plenty of new projects to do. Learn about simple machines including gears, gear ratios, levers, wheel & axle, potential & kinetic energy, and force with projects such as the Mix Master, Micro Movie Maker and Robo-Boxer. Experiment with your contraptions then innovate and improve them! Minimum of 8 students required.
KIDS CODE: Amazing Apps
Join anytime! Students work at their own pace learning how to create apps that they can download and play on their own devices!
Unit 1: Coordinates & Basic Commands is where all students should begin their journey into typing app coding. The apps in Unit 1 illustrate the use of 2D coordinates in graphics programming, as well as Bitsbox's fill, stamp, and text commands.
Unit 2: Variables & Simple Methods introduces the use of placeholders for values and making code easier to change.
Unit 3: Conditionals & Screen Interactions introduces how to run code if only certain conditions are met and shows how to use the tap and grab functions to create interactive apps.
Once students have mastered their current learning goal, they will learn to code with fun themed coding adventures such as Apposaurus Rex, Monkey Business, Top Secret or Super Powers! Students get to choose a theme and then work through a series of apps offered at a range of difficulties - perfect for programmers of all ages!
CLASS IS LIMITED TO 8 STUDENTS.
