Tuesday, 6:00 PM - 6:50 PM
09/11/18 - 10/16/18 (6 weeks)

This class will explore the use of character, story, image, language, humor, and other elements to create songs that address social issues in moving and effective ways.

We'll listen to examples by songwriters like Woody Guthrie, Nina Simone, Steve Earle, Mary Gauthier, Public Enemy and others, and apply their approaches to our own new songs.

Participants will come away with a variety of approaches to writing songs of social change.

All levels of songwriting and musical experience welcome.
