(3s and young 4s) Kids Make Music Emphasizes singing and moving to engaging music, playing rhythm instruments, and exploring the Orff tone-bar instruments. Listening and pitch matching are developed using games, stories, puppets, and props. Parent participation required. Tuition includes mp3 downloads and handouts
(older 3s - 5s) Music in Me and More Music in Me classes focus on ear training skills, solfege singing, movement, keyboard activities, and pitch and rhythm awareness. The course takes a student from experiencing the music aurally with movement to conceptual understanding of the visual components of music. Using the keyboard and barred instruments like the xylophone or glockenspiel, students explore the left-to-right spatial representation of pitch. Rhythmic training focuses on recognizing rhythm patterns and symbols. Parents involvement in class and at home. Materials $30, includes songbook, activity book and mp3 downloads.
(Kindergarten - 6 years) Rhythm and Rhyme students are introduced to the Orff tone bar instruments and taught proper techniques for playing many types of percussion. A wonderful readiness for group piano, the musical concepts of beat, rhythm, melody, and musical notation with improvisation and creativity are explored. Two semesters of instruction (Fall and Winter/Spring) that may be enjoyed in any order. Tuition includes mp3 downloads; Glockenspiel required for at-home use - please purchase at registration if needed.
