To celebrate their 1-year anniversary in Rochester, the Creativity Shell will be hosting a FREE sewing workshop on Saturday, August 4thfrom 10AM – Noon at the Creativity Shell studio in Brighton.
The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in our private studios, public libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness, trauma and human trafficking. All of their classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.
Students in this workshop will be making two special heart projects. One of the hearts will be available for the student to take home and the other will be used as a block on a special quilt that will encompass heart blocks from hundreds of kids in Rochester!
“We are really hoping to have plenty of students involved in this project” says Shelancia Daniel, founder and Executive Director of the Creativity Shell. “It will be a great opportunity for kids to learn a new skill (sewing) and be a part of a larger project aimed at uniting our children through creativity.
