Sewing with Survivors!
If you were at Bernina University 2025, you might have experienced the deeply emotional and powerful session led by Shelancia Daniel titled Sewing with Survivors. In this heartfelt talk, Shelancia shared her work using sewing as a tool for healing with survivors of assault, violence, and human trafficking.
Beginning Fall 2025, the Creativity Shell will open its studio on select evenings to host Sewing with Survivors—a safe, welcoming space where survivors are invited to learn to sew and explore creative techniques that support emotional healing and personal growth. These sessions will offer more than just sewing lessons; they will be a place for connection, reflection, conversation, and rebuilding strength through creativity.
This special program is about more than stitches and seams—it’s about creating a community where survivors can thrive, be heard, and rediscover the joy of making something beautiful for themselves and their future.
