Sally Davis will delight young actors with props, fantasy, music and movement. Children will act out stories from around the world, creating magic through theater.

Take the Stage leads elementary-aged children through a journey into the world of theater. Students develop acting and improvisation skills through theater games, scene work, storytelling, creative movement, music-making, and character exploration using stories and simple scripts.

Acting is Believing explores techniques of acting through theatrical games, movement exercises, voice development, storytelling, and improvisation. Classes focus on the elements found in scenes, monologues and full-length productions. Students grow their creative skills and develop the tools they need to successfully prepare for the parts they were meant to play. This class prepares students for our full scale witner 415 Teen Ensemble Production.

Level One is for students in grades 5 -8. 5th graders are invited to join "MadCap Jam" if they prefer

Level Two is for students in grades 8-12. Eighth graders are invited to join Acting is Believing Level 1 if they prefer. 

Sign up this fun-filled summer program for our youngest students. Participants will work on short scripts, music, and art as we prepare for a performance at the end of each session. Students will eat lunch at nearby Precita Park. 

Short on time but not short on drama! This brief but impactful summer experience for teens will focus on creating plays that are 5 minutes or less. Students will have opportunities to try playwriting, acting, drama, and design throughout this class. The week will culminate in our Micro-Play Festival for friends and family.

Looking your best at an audition is essential to achieving your goals in landing that lead role or getting into a performing arts school. This class is especially geared towards students interested in going to Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (SOTA), or preparing for a school play audition, and covers the essential aspects of a strong audition. We will meet after Acting is Believing 2 to prep our monologues and prepare our best audition!

Teatro en Español is a workshop in Spanish for youth interested in venturing into the art of theater. Through scene work and improvisational games, we will explore the basic elements of acting. At the end of the course, we will have a public presentation to share our experience with friends and family. If you have a story to tell, need to explore your creative side, this is your chance.

Teatro en Español es un taller en español para jóvenes interesados en incursionar en el arte del teatro. Mediande ejercicios escénicos y juegos de improvisación, exploraremos los elementos básicos actorales. Al final del curso, tendremos una presentación pública para compartir nuestro aprendizaje con amigos y familia.

LBTQIA+ youth will explore queer narratives and create their own stories while building a supportive cohort. 

Older elementary and middle school students will spend two weeks putting together a short play complete with costumes, props, music, and movement. A fun time for all!

Madcap Jam takes elementary-aged children on the next steps through a journey into the world of theater with a weekly theatre jam session. Students continue to develop acting and improvisation skills through theater games, scene work, storytelling, creative movement, music-making, and character exploration. This class becomes Madcap Players Performance Ensemble in the Spring
