Class Descriptions

Show classes for:
Comics: Superheroes and Villains
The world of comics is a battle between superheroes and villains. In this class, students will learn to draw heroes and villains, from the basic skills of sketching a human body to the details of facial expressions, emotional reactions, and cool character costumes. Different media (markers, color pencils, ink, pencil, and watercolors) will be explored for the best results. This class encourages creativity and thinking outside of the box. No previous experience necessary. Continuing students will build upon their skills as well as learn new ones.
Material Magic

Why work with one medium when you can Mix it Up? Explore paint, drawing materials, soft materials, and found materials in this class designed for kids ages 4-7.  Kids will learn techniques in a variety of media and make both two and three-dimensional works of art.

Winter Wonderland

Sketch, paint, and pastel a winter wonderland. Students will learn to draw landscapes, shade with pencils and pastels, and blend paints to create snow effects and beautiful wintery scenes. They will work on a variety of paper and canvas for their creations.

Get Creative with Clay

Students will be able to explore and create unique works of art out of air-dry clay! We will be exploring different sculpting techniques, shapes, and designs to create functional or decorative pieces. Students will be given the choice: What do you want to make?

Beyond the Brush

Get ready to explore your creativity in this fun, mixed media art class! Each week, we’ll experiment with different materials and techniques to make amazing projects — from woven designs and decoupage bowls to candle holders and playful clay animals. Kids will learn how to mix textures, colors, and materials while building confidence and having fun. Perfect for young artists who love to create, imagine, and get a little messy!

Time Travelers: Making Art Through the Ages

Pack your imagination — we’re traveling through time to explore how artists across history have expressed their worlds! From prehistoric caves to the colorful motion of modern sculpture, students will uncover the stories behind great works of art and bring them to life through hands-on projects. Each week, we’ll experiment with new materials and techniques inspired by artists of the past: painting with natural pigments like early cave artists, designing Roman mosaics, printing waves in the style of Hokusai, painting vibrant still lifes like Van Gogh, and crafting mobiles inspired by Alexander Calder. By the end of our journey, students will have their own mini “timeline of art” — a gallery of works that show how creativity connects us across time.
