From prehistoric caves to the colorful motion of modern sculpture, students will uncover the stories behind great works of art and bring them to life through hands-on projects. Each week, we’ll experiment with new materials and techniques inspired by artists of the past: painting with natural pigments like early cave artists, designing Roman mosaics, printing waves in the style of Hokusai, painting vibrant still lifes like Van Gogh, and crafting mobiles inspired by Alexander Calder. By the end of our journey, students will have their own mini “timeline of art” — a gallery of works that show how creativity connects us across time.
