Artist Jim Toia and Poet Lee Upton will lead a fun afternoon combining words and textures during a session introducing frottage, a technique that became popular during the Dada and Surrealist movements of the early 20th century.
The technique involves placing paper over a form and using graphite to rub the surface of the paper to record the forms beneath. Upton will assist with writing short poems and words, and Toia will supply some materials from his nature collection for textured exploration.
Please bring writing paper. Other materials will be supplied.
Children younger than 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult - please register both participants. Adults accompanying children will get a discounted rate.
