SEWING FABRIC FRIENDS (1 Seat Left)

GRADES 4+

We will start with basic shapes and move on to more complex patterns.  The student will learn and practice basic hand sewing skills.  They will also learn how to use a sewing machine.  The pattern pieces will be pre-cut so the student will be ready to focus on sewing skills.  A few of the projects we will be working on will be stuffed hearts, ladybugs and a seal.

IF YOU WANT TO BRINGING YOUR OWN MACHINE:  bring it in 15 MINUTES BEFORE FIRST CLASS.  Please bring extra filled bobbins and a spool of white and a spool of black thread. Bring in the manual of the machine. Make sure your name is on your machine. *please let us know if you are bringing in your own machine.

Any teen who is passionate about art will enjoy this course! Designed to support you in finding your own passions, ideas, and strengths through art, you can look forward to discovery through exciting materials and traditional techniques. Students can work on their own projects or can work on a medium of choice to create projects.  Goals are to develop skills and to explore mediums such as drawing or painting.
Perfect for students who want the freedom to create what they want with support, individual instruction and feedback.

We will be making bags!!
The student will be required to trace, cut and pin their bag pattern from their own fabric.  
Some of our projects will be a drawstring backpack, smaller bag, and a pencil case.
For our bag closures we will be using drawstrings, buttons and zippers.
The student will learn basic hand stitches, and how to use a sewing machine.

MATERIALS REQUIRED (bring to first class):  1 yard of cotton woven fabric of their choice.
There are lots of fun fabric a Jo Anne’s in the far back right-hand comer of the store.  Use your coupon.

ENCOUNTERS WITH NATURE (1 Seat Left)

Throughout this 5-week session, we will embrace nature in several different artistic ways.  We’ll use “found items” from outdoor to create a Nature-Scape in an interesting container.  We will learn how to create trees in a variety of ways via drawing, painting, torn paper art and pop-open style. We will also make up a brand new story that is set in nature, but about whom, what, and where?  As a class, we will all participate in creating and illustrating this story from beginning to end.  It will be YOUR story and I can’t wait to hear all of your ideas!  This will be a class filled with lots of creative energy and fun.  Don’t miss this one!

FRIDAY STUDIO

REGISTRATION BY THE WEEK

This open studio is designed for the 5 and under crowd to enjoy creative and safe activities with their favorite adult.   Stations will feature water and bubble play, Tinker table, take-home art activity, Play Dough, easel draw and paint and more. All stations will have individual materials for each child, only siblings may share.  Masks required for all adults for the duration of class.  Children will wear masks when moving through the studio but may remove them when seated at stations.
**Only one adult may stay in the studio with each child.  We request that each child have ONE attending adult.

SAFTEY PROTOCOLS
Space is limited to 7 students and weekly registration is REQUIRED.
REGISTRATION OPENS on Saturday for the following Friday.
