What happens on early dismissal days?

L.A.C.E.R. PLUS Learning Lab students will be supervised and engaged in activities everyday from dismissal to 6pm – regardless of dismissal times.

Other workshops will begin at various times and last approximately 1 - 1.5 hours. Snacks are also provided.

Every effort is made to adhere to the early dismissal time, but in the rare circumstances that workshop instructors are unable to make it, parents will be given notice in ample advanced time.

Parents are encouraged to take note of King's dismissal schedule HERE and L.A.C.E.R. PLUS calendar HERE to know what days have early dismissal.

When do I need to pay for the month’s L.A.C.E.R. PLUS Learning Lab registration?

Classes for the following months will be posted at least a month ahead of time and payment is due by the first of the month. So, if you would like you students to be a part of October’s L.A.C.E.R. Learning Lab, your $250 payment should be paid by the first class on October 1st. Students, however, are admitted on a rolling basis for the same monthly flat rate. So if you miss the deadline and sign up mid-October, you will still have to pay the same $250 rate.

The easiest and best value option to sign your student up for Learning Lab is to opt for the our packages (Ie. Back to School Package) where you can save up to $100 off of the final price.

What is the Honor Code of Conduct?

All students agree to participate respectfully. Our staff works to inspire youth to follow basic agreements and hold themselves to high standards, including displaying respect for themselves, each other, the school, staff and community. Behavioral issues with middle school students are normal but if a problem arises, it will be handled by staff respectfully. If the problem persists, parents will be contacted to arrive at a solution collaboratively and in some cases students may lose the privilege of attending the program temporarily or all together.  In such cases, no refunds will be given.

What is in the Registration Packet that will be given to our Students on the first day of the course?

What is L.A.C.E.R. PLUS?

L.A.C.E.R. PLUS is a division of L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs, a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide underserved middle and high school youth with free arts and literacy-based after school programs which include academic support, arts programming, enrichment activities and sports in a safe and caring environment. It is funded by individuals, parents, as well as corporate, government, and foundation grants. At King Middle School, we offer these spots on a random lottery basis in the beginning of June. Students enrolled in the free program for 2015-2016 academic school year have already been notified.

However, there are still many students who need a safe place to be after school to engage with their peers and develop their talents.  L.A.C.E.R. PLUS offers a wide variety of exciting learning opportunities for your child!  L.A.C.E.R. Plus students are not held to grant requirements. They do not have an hourly minimum per day and do not have a daily requirement. Parents can send their student on any day, for as long or as little as they need.
