This Zentangle method is reminiscent of Renaissance drawings. It is inspired by the chiaroscuro method (Italian for light-dark) which is a drawing technique done on toned paper, using both warm and cool earthy colors. Students will become familiar with the techniques that will give their work that recognizable Renaissance look and feel, exploring tangles from a new angle. Working on Zentangle Renaissance Tiles, students will use brown, black, and white pens to work the surface, and continue to create shadows and highlights with graphite and white charcoal pencils. Students should preferably have some Zentangle experience. Renaissance tiles are included. Loaner supplies will be available for those who do not have their own. Renaissance supplies will be available for purchase as well.
