Question: Should I take Dance Ministry Classes if I already have studied Secular dance and have the skill?
Answer: Secular Dance is different from Liturgical Dance. Just as Ballet is different from Jazz or Tap. Secular dance focuses on Entertainment vs. Liturgical Dance which focuses on Ministry. While both require skill they use different techniques and have different principals and goals. Secular dance usually draws the audience's attention to the dancer; where as in Liturgical dance the goal is to draw the audience's attention to God. Secular dance usually focuses on the artistic creative movements of the body's ability where as Liturgical dance focuses on the movements that create a message of ministry from God to the audience.
