The Word In Motion
Policies and Procedures

Policies and Procedures

Dance training is built on standards that reflect Ministry respect and professionalism. These standards include listening to your instructor, following directions, and adhering to the required dress code. We expect our dancers to arrive on time, ready for dance, and to display courtesy to their parents, instructors, and classmates. Any misconduct unbecoming to students, guests, or instructors may result in dismissal from class.

Home practice is necessary by each student for progress. We encourage parents to support this as it will help the instructors promote student progress and move forward with instruction.

On a weekly basis, please review techniques or any handouts or home assignments the instructor gave out to enhance skills.

Please inform your instructor of any injuries, allergies, or special needs that may require extra attention.

Talking, chewing gum, eating, drinking, sitting down, wandering in and out of the room, hanging on the barres, climbing on equipment, horse play  or leaning against the wall are unacceptable during a class.

Remember, a good attitude is very important in any learning environment.

Class Arrival and Attendance
It is essential that students arrive to class on time. When dance students are late, they miss the warm up and stretching at  the beginning of class, which is essential for safety and optimal performance.  Regular attendance at dance school is of the utmost importance and dance students are expected to be present each day that dance class is in session. Each day in class, learning is taking place. Their learning experiences can never be duplicated, and when a dance student is not in attendance, they are missing some portion of their total educational experience. When a dance student misses a practice, it affects their entire team. It is very hard to practice a group dance and make progress when a dance student is missing. Regular attendance is critical for student progression and group choreography.  Please try to make all scheduled classes to allow instructors and students to do the best job possible.  The word in Motion is committed to the development of each of their dance students.  It is only sacrificing 1 hour one day a week for improvement for an unlimited time.                                                                                               If a student is unable to attend class, a courtesy call to inform the office would be appreciated.  No credit or refund will be given for missed classes. You will also not be allowed  to transfer classes to another student to another or from one class to another; there are no make up classes

TWIM reserves the right to provide a substitute instructor if the regularly scheduled instructor is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes.  If an instructor is ill and TWIM cannot arrange for a substitute, parents and students will be notified as soon as possible and a class will be postponed.

If a class enrollment is too small, The Word In Motion reserves the right to cancel or combine that class with another appropriate class.

Parent Visitation

Parents are encouraged to make an appointment with the instructor, or set up a conference call with director other than class time, to discuss their child’s progress.  Please feel free to call or email  to schedule an appointment.

Tuition is due at the beginning of each session:  TWIM has billing by sessions.
You have two payment options. You can pay in full or you can pay the session.  If payment is returned for insufficient fees, your will be assessed a $30 re-processing fee.

Dropping a class:  Students are registered and her/his place is held in class for the entire  group of sessions, from the date the registration form is signed through the June.  Unless the student is removed from class by having a parent or guardian sign and date the “Class Withdrawal Form”, the parent or guardian will be responsible for tuition payments through the June.  The only way to withdraw from a class is to complete the “Class Withdrawal Form”.  This will stop the billing process.  If the Parent/ Student does not give this written notice, monthly tuition will still be processed through auto billing  for the next session classes and they will be financially responsible for the amount.  Calling, speaking to someone, telling a teacher or e-mail are not accepted as forms of withdrawal.

It is advised to complete the form 3-4  weeks in advance so that we can cancel your automatic billing or  payment. The 4-week notice begins from the date the withdrawal form is signed and dated at the bottom of registration form.

Refund Policy: Tuition, costumes, competition and travel fees are non-refundable.  No credits or refunds for missed classes. No credit or refund will be given for missed classes.
